Stanislaw Lem’s Return From the Stars: e-readers and touch-screen technology
Using an e-reader, tablet, or smartphone to read a text is not as usual for us as it was a decade ago. Today, we witness the unspoken war between the classic paper books and their electronic analogs. But in the 1960s, people knew nothing about electronic devices with the touch-screen technology.
Stanislaw Lem, in his novel Return From the Stars published in 1961, was talking about the devices that became real only about 40 years later. This fact is quite impressive. The author had mentioned a touch-screen technology as well as the possibility of putting a book’s content into a special device, so it can be read at any time without the need of using the original book.
And to see how the touch-screen technology was created in real life, watch the video below.
