Stylish Future of Space Suit
The newest version of the NASA’s suit is even cooler than those that Matt Damon’s character wore in the Ridley Scott’s film the Martian.
It was the first experience in completely redesigning astronaut outwear in nearly thirty years. The latest type of the costume, called Z-2 Spacesuit, is a $4.4 million planetary exploration suit designed to simplify the exploration of the surface of Mars, the Moon, and possibly surfaces of some other celestial bodies. The neon design looks similar to costumes in sci-fi films.
It is hard to ignore the fact that the prototype looks like it has been taken straight from the Tron franchise. The most significant foreign piece of this new spacesuit is its electroluminescent wiring and decoration with futuristic patterns that was never used in a space suit before. This is added for better visibility in darkness. The suit’s boots and gloves can be tightened for a better fit, a feature necessary in real exploration scenarios.
