Your NETGEAR range extender expands your home WiFi network by you can connect to your existing network, improving coverage and enhancing connectivity. The the following instructions will assist you in setting up your extender.

The following guidelines are recommended for all extenders.
To set up your extender
- Plug in your extender. The Power LED lights
If your Power LED is not lit, you can push the Power or On/Off buttons.
- Connect your mobile or desktop device to the WiFi network of the extender.
The default WiFi network name (SSID), for the extender is NETGEAR_EXT. The default password for the extender network is either password or no password.
Your device might alert you that the Internet may not be available. This is normal. Use the WiFi connection.
- Open a web browser. Type mywifiext.net in the address bar.
The New Extender Setup page is displayed.
- Click or tap the button to activate NEW EXTENDER.
When prompted, click or tap Yes or I agree to accept the terms and conditions.
- Choose the admin credentials of your extender.
These credentials allow you to view the settings of your extender from a web browser.
We recommend you to leave the default user name admin and use a different password for your WiFi network password.
- Two security questions can be selected from the drop-down menus.
These questions will be used to locate your extender’s administrator credentials if they have been lost.
- Click or tap the NEXT button.
When your extender wants to know if you’d like the NETGEAR Gienie to assist, click or tap YES/CONTINUE.
Your extender searches local WiFi networks.
- Select the radio buttons that correspond to your network’s 5GHz or 2.4GHz WiFi Network names (SSID).
Click or tap See More to see more of your networks.
- Click or tap the NEXT button.
- Enter your password for the existing network and click or tap “NEXT”.
- For your extender, select SSIDs/passwords.
The default setting for an extended is to use the name of your existing network, with _2GEXT added at the end in the 2.4GHz band and the _5GEXT in the 5GHz band. Your existing network password is used as the password for each band.
- (Optional). Mesh extenders can use the same WiFi name or password as their existing network. To enable this feature, select the Enable One WiFi Name checkbox if your extender supports it.
This allows your extender use the same WiFi name and password that your existing WiFi network.
- Click or tap the NEXT button.
The extender applies your settings. This process can take up to a few minutes.
The extender displays the WiFi network name and password (SSID) for each of its bands. These should be noted.
- You will need to connect your device to the mywifiext extender network. To do so, open the WiFi settings and then connect to extender’s network.
- Reload your browser, click the checkbox at bottom of page, then click or tap CONTINUE.
Your network extender has now extended your coverage.
