Eligibility Criteria
There are certain prerequisites before one can sit for a PMP examination. If the candidate has a bachelor’s degree or any global equivalent, they have to prove with documentation 4,500 hours or 3 years of project management experience which they have spent in directing or managing a project. A candidate with a high-school diploma or global equivalent is to provide with documentation 5 years or 7,500 hours of project management experience. They also have to prove 35 hours of Project Management training. Any proof of completion of a PMP course offered by any Registered Education Providers will help the candidate complete 35 hours of project management training.
The focus of the Exam
The PMP exam has now evolved to ensure that certified project managers meet the demands of today’s professions and organizations. The exam focuses on three main domains one needs to gain a competitive edge-
- People– One must-have skill that will ensure they can effectively lead a team that successfully and efficiently tackles all projects in any environment.
- Technicals– One must know the processes in which they can reinforce all technical aspects of leading a project so that the project is finished in time.
- Environment– A certified project manager should have the capability to highlight all connections between the organization’s strategies and its projects.
The exam questions the candidates on five primary areas that cover these domains. 13% of questions are dedicated to starting a project, 24% towards planning a project, 31% towards execution of projects, 25% towards monitoring and controlling projects, and 7% towards closing the projects.
Examination Pattern-
There are 200 questions in the exam out of which 25 are not scored. The paper doesn’t mention which questions are unscored and the candidate has to answer all with seriousness. It is a closed book exam and 4 hours are allotted to finishing it without any breaks. To pass this examination, one has to receive 60.6%, that is, 106 questions have to be correct out of the 175 answered.
This examination is of intermediate difficulty and with proper effort, one can easily complete this course without any issue.
