On-Page SEO Optimization
On-page SEO optimization covers everything you need to do during website development. Do not worry if you have already spent money on designing your website or if you have limited programming knowledge. Once you learn these techniques and understand how to use them, they can be applied in just a few minutes to any new or existing website or blog.
Surprisingly, many of these SEO techniques are ignored by 98% of all internet marketers and all those who try to improve their ranking position on search engine results pages (SERPs).
What is On-Page SEO Optimization?
On-page optimization are the critical steps that lead to success, such as better target market perception, keyword search, and content strategy.
The good thing about on-page optimization is that you have 100% control. If you follow our SEO Guide, you will be able to improve how search engines view your pages, weigh the relevance of content and keywords, and rank your website higher in search engine results.
The most important elements of on-page optimization are:
- Proper use of meta tags
- Page title
- Content formatting
- Internal linking
- Keyword strategy
We will only deal with Google mainly because the other search engines have almost disappeared from the map. However, whatever strategy we use for Google, the same applies to all other search engines.
Finally, I would like to mention that once you optimize your website with the right SEO strategies then you will immediately see, and I mean within 24 hours immediate results.
Keyword Research and SEO
Finding the right keywords for which your site should be optimized is the basic principle for any search engine optimization campaign. The goal of any keyword research is to find keywords or phrases that have a high search frequency, so they are potentially high traffic factors and have very low competition. That is, there are not many websites that use these keywords compared to their search frequency.
Less competition means you will be much more likely to come out on top with the selected keywords or phrases in the search results.
The right and relevant keywords will help you understand faster and create the traffic you want for your page. Wrong and irrelevant keywords will only be destructive to the viability of your page as the traffic received will not be targeted and there will be no results in the vital points of your marketing and sales.
Perhaps the most important tool for finding relevant keywords provided free of charge by Google is the Google Keyword Tool
SEO and Meta Tags
Meta tags are the tags you give to your pages. Although there is a wide variety of labels, we will deal with the most important ones. Meta tags help search engines understand the title of your web pages, the information they contain, the information that will appear in search engine results and how each page should be indexed by them.
We strongly believe that Google evaluates the tags in relation to all other SEO factors ensuring the relevance and validity of your page. So, they should be used with care and be complete, up to date and accurate.
Make sure each page on your website has its own unique set of tags. Having heterogeneous or duplicate tags can really negatively affect your ranking.
A very useful SEO tool to automate this SEO process in general with meta tags is WordPress SEO by Joost.
Of course, we must be very careful when using tools or additives like the above, because no additive can replace the human hand or the human mind. Also, not every add-on is necessary, as it can add a lot of useless code to your page. There is no bad add-on, only add-ons or applications with misspelled code.
Page Titles
This tag is the title of the page. It informs the search engines about the content of your page, while it also appears in the results of the search engine pages.
The title should generally not be more than 7 words or 60 characters including spaces. This is the maximum number of words or characters that appear in Google results. If your title is larger than this size, it will not appear and will be replaced by dots. This is expected to improve in the future, but it is good that we are taking action.
The reason you should only have seven lines of code is that Google weighs the weight of each word in your tag. The more words, the lower they weight by Google.
This is why it is extremely important that title tags contain the main theme of your page and focus on the specific keywords that you have defined.
Include your keywords in the title tags! The keywords are what your potential customers are looking for when they search for your service or product on the internet. Use the post key to separate keywords or phrases when you place more than one keyword in the title tags.
For example, if you have an e-shop with clothes and the keywords are Women’s summer offers and green bikinis, you should include them like this: Women’s summer offers, green bikini.
Description as a SEO factor
This tag provides a description of your page or blog. This will appear just below the title of your website in the search engine results pages.
You should use the keywords at least twice in the description of your page. Try to create a description that looks natural and include at least twice the keywords on your page. Your description should be attractive and should capture the attention of users who visit your page.
Good Quality SEO – example:
“How to make money on the internet. See testimonials from users who made money from the internet through their own blog!”
SEO example to avoid:
“Make money from the internet, make money, money from the internet, make money, make your blog”
Over-optimizing and stuffing the description with keywords can have the opposite effect on search engines. Twice the keyword is enough.
Keywords and SEO
Keyword tags are another way to keep search engines informed about your page content. There are many theories about keyword tags and their importance. The reality is that keywords have no relevance on their own unless they are generally related to the topic of your page and are not in harmony with your content.
Yes, the keyword tag should include the main keywords of your website, but the keywords should be included throughout your page at strategically selected points.
Avoid stuffing keywords into the text. A keyword density of 1% to 4% is acceptable while above would give negative signals to search engines.
Separate keywords by comma on the keyword tag:
<meta name = “Keywords” content = “marketing, search engine optimization, SEO, marketing guide”>.
Robots and SEO
The simplest of all labels is the robot label. This signals Googlebot, the Google search engine spider, to access your page. In order for your page to be indexed faster and correctly, search engines send their spiders to access and scan your webpage at regular intervals. Google does this in two to three days or sooner. -In fact, there are ways to do this in less than an hour.
When spiders see the “all” tag on the robots’ label, they simply include everything in their index, even pages you do not want.
Although most search engines will not discriminate whether or not you include a robot tag and will scan your page anyway, it is a good idea to include it from the beginning.
The best way to rank a page by search engines is by submitting your sitemap to them.
Content is King in SEO
The best thing to do in terms of content is to eliminate junk code at the top of the page and put the right content first. In SEO, content has always been and will be the ‘king’.
Search engines read pages from left to right and from top to bottom. Too many pages used to have left-hand columns with links and applications on the left side of their page, before the main text of the blog. So, Google will read that site first and then go to the home page.
It is best to read the main content first and then the rest. Keywords and optimizers are being identified first. That is, you should separate your content with titles of your page and then everything else.
Internal Linking and SEO
In SEO optimization, not only the external links to our page from third parties’ matter, the so-called backlinks or links, but also the internal interconnection of our page with the individual contents, articles, videos and pages, count.
How one page links to another?
The internal interface should be simple, functional and easily accessible. Too many pages have dramatically improved their search engine rankings when they simply improved their interface.
The best way to link is to categorize the category pages and the home page and then the secondary ones. Of course, the issue of connectivity is automatically resolved if you use WordPress.
The internal interface should look something like a pyramid. Consecutive or parallel interface is always easier to navigate and access by search engines.
SEO requires a good strategy and use of our SEO guide. Of course, in our guide we covered only a part of the strategy you have to follow to get on the 1st page of Google.
